Portage stole the lead late and defeated Chesterton 7 – 6 on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with the Indians batting in the bottom of the sixth when Mark Calmbacher scored on an error. Sean Kawiecki added to the late inning surge with an RBI single.
Jimmy Scanlan started the game for Portage. The lefthander lasted four innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out six. Montgomery Cunningham pitched in relief and received the victory. Cunningham allowed five hits and four runs over three innings, striking out four.
The Indians had ten hits in the game. Conner Archer, Michael Bender, and Sean Kawiecki each racked up multiple hits for Portage.
