Girls Varsity Golf · Girls Golf Team Shoots 406 at Regional; Wood Advances to State as Individual

  Place Points
Portage High School 17th 406

The Girls Golf Team finished in 17th place at the Regional at Battle Ground on Saturday to finish their season as a team. However, senior Olivia Wood extended her career by shooting a 77 and advancing to the IHSAA Girls State Golf Championship next weekend as an individual. Olivia was consistent all day and finished in 3rd place overall in the 108 player field. She is the first Portage girls golfer to advance to state since 1999 (Natalie Yudt)! The state championship is a 2 round event starting on Friday in Carmel.

The season did end for the rest of the team, but not without them playing well on the longest course of the season:

Senior Peyton Panozzo – 97
Senior Hannah Doell – 115
Senior Gina Kapinos -117
Freshman Jordan Jacobs -130

Peyton, Hannah and Gina all ended their golf careers at the Regional. Their positive attitudes and contributions to the team will be missed!
