On Thursday your Portage Freshman football team hosted the Valparaiso Vikings at the Warpath. The Indians were fired up for this Duneland Athletic Conference rivalry game and defeated the Vikings 30 to 7. After the Vikings scored on their first possession of the game the Portage Red Scare defense stiffened denying Valparaiso any chance at scoring again. Darion Green had a clutch interception, his 2nd of the season. The offensive backfield for the Indians found holes to run through thanks in part to D’Juan Washington’s effective blocking. Terrel Craft had another superb showing scoring 2 rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Colton Wilkie connected with Antoine Pierson on a 30-yard touchdown pass. Antoine Pierson also showed savvy football awareness and recovered a fumbled ball in the endzone for the Indians’ first touchdown of the night.
The Freshman Football Team will play their final game of their season next Thursday against the Laporte Slicers. Wish our young men luck and encouragement to bring home the victory.
